The WISE Writing Continuum: Bridging the Gap from Mechanics to Composition in KS1 & KS2

£150.00

This online session breaks down the physical and cognitive demands of writing, focusing on how to move pupils from phonics to fluent composition.

Description

Building on Early Years foundations, this session explores the physical and cognitive demands of writing.

We focus on bridging the gap between phonics and fluent composition by examining the mechanics that underpin successful writers. Delegates will gain access to our Primary Dictation Guidance, offering a cumulative progression from Year 1 through Year 6.

We demonstrate how carefully designed dictation routines can embed spelling, punctuation and increasingly complex grammar, ensuring transcription becomes automatic and frees pupils to focus on composition.

The session also explores classroom systems that drive progress. We share effective lesson structures that balance explicit teacher modelling with opportunities to build independence and stamina.

You will:

  • Explore high-impact dictation routines
  • Receive our Primary Dictation Guidance
  • Receive our Writing and Assessment Continuum (supporting progression from Year 1 to Year 6.)
  • Receive effective lesson structures and classroom systems that support consistent progress.
